If you shoot raw and want to avoid Adobe I'd look at either an open source raw converter and then follow-up light tweaking with GIMP if you want to go free or something like ACDSee.If you're happy spending some more money but just want to avoid the subscription then there are some excellent raw converters at decent prices: PhotoNinja is superb, DX0 is superb, SilkyPix is excellent and Capture One is terrific.MAC user there's also Affinity which is getting good revues - I haven't tried it yet.Joe.
